Marimba with Annie Geselle & Michael Bucy
Adult Class: Sundays, Jan 3-31, 6:30-8pm (5 weeks) $75
Kids Class (age 8 & up): Saturdays, Jan 9-Feb 6, 11am-noon (5 weeks) $60
Zimbabwean marimba music is an art discipline steeped in the tradition of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. The music emphasizes community, beautiful polyrhythmic melodies and infectious rhythms that encourage participation by everyone, no matter what your musical experience.

Beginning Jewelry Making with Rowan Law
Mondays, Jan 4-25, 6-9pm (4 weeks)
Students will learn how to solder, saw, file, texture and rivet using silver and base metals. Projects will include a silver ring, a pair of silver earrings and a simple pendant using the various techniques learned in the class. $150 (includes supplies)

6-wk Beginning: Mondays, Jan 4-Feb 8 with Thomas Weise $210

4-wk Intermediate: “Throwing Big!”: Saturdays, Jan 9-30, 2-5pm with Joyce Payne $145
4-wk Intermediate Wheel: Sundays, Jan 10-31, 2-5pm with Joyce Payne $145
In beginning wheel throwing classes for adults, students will learn basic wheel skills including centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing. Handles and other decoration options will also be introduced. Two intermediate wheel throwing classes are offered in January. If you have the basic skills down and want to move to the next level, try “Throwing Big” on Saturday afternoons or working on independent projects under the guidance of instructor Joyce Payne on Sunday afternoons.
Class fee includes instruction, additional open studio time, clay, supplies, glazing and firing.

Portrait Drawing with Jackie Manning
Tuesdays, Jan 5-26, 6:30-9pm (4 weeks)
Explore techniques for portrait drawing. Working from a model students will examine anatomy and structure to render facial features using charcoal. New and experienced students welcome. $125 (includes materials & model fee)

Saori Weaving with Sarah Newsham
Warp to Weaving (4 wk): Saturdays, Jan 9-30, 10am-1pm
Learn the fundamentals of Japanese Saori weaving, from warp to finished piece in this 4-week class. Design and create your own weaving. No experience necessary. $110 (includes materials)

Teapots with Joyce Payne
Saturdays, Jan 9-30, 10am-1pm (4 weeks)
Hand building a teapot from clay is the ultimate exploration of hand building techniques. This class is appropriate for new and experienced students.
$145 Class fee includes instruction, additional open studio time, clay, supplies, glazing and firing.

Silk Painting with David Riccio
Saturdays, Jan 16 & 23, 1-5pm (2 weeks)
Learn the fundamentals of painting on stretched silk with Procion dyes, utilizing wet on wet techniques, dye in/on/and next to dye. Students will use a variety of resists to create designs and constrain the flow of dye. Techniques for designing, finishing and displaying completed artwork will be discussed and demonstrated. Class fee includes materials to produce two silk paintings. $115 (includes materials)

T’ai-chi Ch’uan with Annie Geselle
Jan 19– May 2 (15 weeks)
Level 1: 5-6pm, Wednesdays & Sundays
Level 2: 7:30-8:30am, Tuesdays & Thursdays
T’ai-chi ch’uan is a moving meditation; an ancient Chinese exercise consisting of slow, relaxed movements. For the body, it is an exercise. For the mind, it is a study in concentration and will power. The exercise consists of 37 movements that are performed in a slow, continuous sequence. Yang style, by Cheng Man Ching. $175

Music: “the Jazzberries” Friday, Jan 22, 7pm
Mark Badilla & John Sanchez perform live jazz. Pay as you can.
